PLANTING ON PUBLIC LAND

City of Mississauga

• One Million Trees Events - Get involved in hands-on tree planting projects in a park or natural area in Mississauga. With your help, native trees and shrubs are planted in parks and natural areas throughout the city. This program is suitable for schools, businesses, community groups and individuals. A fee to coordinate a private event during work time applies to businesses.

• Request a street tree on the boulevard near your house by calling the City of Mississauga at 3-1-1.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)

• CVC’s Volunteer Workday Program engages the public of all ages in tree planting and stewardship activities throughout the Credit River watershed.

• The Corporate Tree Planting Program is for businesses and corporations throughout the watershed. Companies bring their employees out to public lands to contribute to their local environment.

• Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) is a high school volunteer program offering a hands-on environmental stewardship experience for future environmental leaders in the Credit River Watershed.

• The Valley and Riparian Enhancement Program focuses on public lands not suitable for volunteer engagement.

Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA)

• TRCA offers volunteers opportunities to participate in projects on public lands throughout the Etobicoke Creek and Mimico Creek watersheds. Native tree and shrub planting, tree health monitoring, interpretive hikes and installing wildlife habitat structures are some of the activities offered to restore and enhance local forest, meadow and wetland habitats.

Credit River Anglers Association (CRAA)

• CRAA is a group of concerned anglers and conservationists that are dedicated to improving the fishery that exists in the Credit River Basin. They deliver planting projects in Mississauga focused on increasing tree cover on the banks of the Credit River and its tributaries including the Levi, Mullet and Loyalist Creeks and storm water management ponds.
